A few words about me, Jan Siqueland

Welcome to Antioxi.net! I am the webmaster and the one responsible for the day-to-day operation of the site. I also compile and distribute the newsletter, Antioxi Now!
I am a journalist by training and profession, and I live in upstate New York with my wife.
Being of Norwegian descent, I usually spend some time on the "old country" each year, and I even speak a little Norwegian.

On Christmas Day in 2001, my mother died of cancer at the age of 58. In a time when women are expected to at least reach their late seventies, 58 is clearly far too young. Her lifestyle was not particularly unhealthy. A non-smoker, she stayed slim and in shape all her life. As a scholteacher, she was an important part of society and enjoyed her life a lot. Even so, she died at an early age.

I don't want that to happen to me.

But it might, because not only did my mother die of cancer at a young age, so did my paternal grandfather. And last July, I learned that my paternal aunt had been diagnosed with skin cancer at age 61. As you probably know, being disposed for cancer can run in the family, and I may have that predisposition on both sides. Clearly, I am at risk. But I will do all I can to make that risk as insignificant as possible. And antioxidants are the key.

Unfair as the death of my mother seemed to me at the time, that was what got me thinking about ways to help the body fight disease and aging. I did some research and came to the conclusion that by far the best and most scientifically proven way of doing that is to use antioxidants actively.

If you are reading this, then you probably already have some understanding about how antioxidants work. If not, this may be an informative and hopefully eye-opening primer. If you are anything like me, you'll find the world of antioxidants exciting and fascinating, not least because of the positive effects they may have for your life.

This is not just an anti-cancer site. Rather, I focus on all the effects antioxidants may have. They range from skin care to preventing cardiac diseases, from anti-aging to better vitality and quality of life. And much more besides.

About Antioxi.net

I have spent four years doing research about antioxidants, and it astounds me how deep I sometimes have to dig to get at the good stuff. Much of it is virtually hidden from view and buried in dense scientific reports and journals. What you see in the media is just the tiniest tip of the iceberg of this fascinating topic. There is a lot of research going on about antioxidants these days, and the number of research projects increases as more and more scientists realize that using antioxidants may well be one of the most important breakthroughs of our time. That's not being melodramatic - many doctors have been hailing it as such for years.

I am not a doctor or a medical professional; I am a journalist. My lack of scientific credentials may put some people off and make them disregard the information I provide, and that's fine with me. I will encourage anyone to get their information about nutrition and antioxidants from sources they trust, if that will make them more likely to put their knowledge to good use. However, keeping track of all that is going on in the field of antioxidant research is a pretty big task, and one that never ends.
Why not let me do it for you?

What I am trying to do with this site is to provide you with all the relevant information that I have gathered about antioxidants, be it good or bad. You will see that I don't overwhelm you with medical terms or scientific background material, fascinating as that might be, but rather boil things down to what it means for your life. Hopefully, my way of conveying this information to you will make a positive difference in your life.

Staying informed is the first step, and possibly the most important one. But information that is not put to use is of little worth. I personally use antioxidants actively, and some would say aggressively, in order to stay healthy and live as long a life as possible. I encourage my family and friends to do the same - and I would like to encourage you. Informed and active use of antioxidants may be the best weapon we have against crippling diseases and premature death, and I really think you should take your part of it. Antioxidants are not a miracle cure for everything, but the beneficial effects they can have for your health are very real.

Most people find that using antioxidant supplements and skin creams is the best and most convenient way of using antioxidants actively. Some of the most potent antioxidants cannot be obtained through the diet alone.

To make the use of antioxidants as easy and convenient as possible for you, I have included links to providers of antioxidant supplements on almost every page of this site. These are quality vendors from which I myself buy my supplements - and I go through a lot of them! Of course, I would urge you to get your antioxidants from the sources that are most convenient for you, since that will ensure that you keep using them. Just make sure that what you buy is of good quality, and that you actually use the products.

Antioxi.net is a free site, and it is updated and added to every day. Use it as much as you like, gather the information you want and need, subscribe to the newsletter Antioxi Now! and stay informed about this health revolution and how you can reap its benefits.

It could be the most important thing you ever did.

Sincerely,
